DAY 3
Destination: Sun City - Dullstroom
……………………………………………………………………………
After breakfast the journey continues via Pretoria,
Witbank and Belfast to Dullstroom for a stop-over.
You leave Sun City and drive through vast savannah
scenery to Rustenburg, a place with a rich past where
you can admire relicts from the Stone Age as well as
middle to late Iron Age.
Due to two enormous platinum mines, the region has
gained wealth and is also home to the Royal
Bafokeng Tribe, the richest tribe of the nation.
On your way to Pretoria you pass the Hartebeesport
Dam, a recreational area at the foothills of the
Magaliesberg Mountains. The City Tour in Pretoria
will provide you a good overview of the town.
This City tour gives the opportunity to see museums
and monuments depicting South Africa’s history.
The fascinating Voortrekker Monument, a massive
granite structure, honours the early pioneers. Church
Square is surrounded by several historically and
architecturally significant buildings such as the
Palace of Justice and the Old Capitol Theatre.
Equally impressive are the City Hall, the Opera
House and the Union Buildings, the official seat of
the South African Government and the offices of our
President.
Depart Pretoria and enter the Mpumalanga
Province. Fantastic sceneries, legends of various
tribes, a huge diversity of flora and the
fascinating world of animals make Mpumalanga to
one of the main destinations for travellers.
