More than 200 PGA of Australia members attended the 2017 PGA Golf Expo on Queensland ’ s Sunshine Coast from September 12 to 14 , and experienced a full schedule of domestic and international calibre speakers and coaches presenting over the three-day event .
Held at Novotel Twin Waters and nearby Twin Waters Golf Club , the Expo offered Australian PGA members the chance to attend seminars run by industry leaders on business and coaching , as well as the opportunity to lay eyes on the latest products from all the biggest names in golf equipment .
The first day of the PGA Golf Expo was dedicated to industry knowledge , small business and management as well as coaching sessions . While the coaching specific sessions were exclusive to PGA Professionals , anyone in the golf industry was welcome to attend the Expo on Day One . Ian James from RetailTribe was a standout for Day One , speaking to a key message of improving engagement with our clients . AS well increase our values as a PGA Member and showing how we as pros make the difference with each and every golfer and potential golfer .
Day Two welcomed an extensive trade show featuring approximately 35 golf industry exhibitors and information , training and education sessions . With exhibitors ranging from golf manufacturers through to coaching software providers , launch monitor manufacturers and a variety of other areas to assist PGA Members in their businesses and careers , there was definitely something of interest to everyone in attendance .
Day Two also featured both indoor and outdoor training and education sessions , including golf equipment showcases , small business improvement sessions , game development oriented forums and club fitting training provided by all the major equipment manufacturers .
Renowned American golf Michael Breed took part in the second ‘ equipment ’ day of the event , assisting Titleist and FootJoy in launching their latest products and helping the professionals improve their fitting techniques . While the host of The Golf Fix on the US Golf Channel and Director of Instruction at Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point also played a major role on Day Three of the Expo .
Exclusive to PGA Members , day three was dedicated to improving your coaching skills in addition to providing ideas to improve a coaching business . Michael Breed featured throughout the day , presenting live lessons as well as showing how characteristics of Tour level golfers can be effectively implemented into the games of club golfers . The day also included sessions from 2016 PGA of Australia Teacher of the Year Richard Woodhouse and renowned golf academy business developer Jeremy Aisenberg .
I hope more members will put this event onto their calendar when it returns in 2018 . It ’ s up to us as PGA Members and industry leaders to continually develop our skills to meet the demands of an ever changing industry . Golf Industry Central I Spring 2017 13
