GREEN LIGHT TO COMMENCE YERING DEVELOPMENT After more than four years in planning, The Eastern Golf Club is now ready to start development of its new site at Yering. A Planning Scheme Amendment to its proposed new property has been approved, green lighting the Clubs exciting new plans and vision for the future. The proposed development includes a 27 hole golf course plus a 9 hole par 3 course, all designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design. National and International tourism opportunities are expected to play an integral role in the development’s future. Mr Dane continued “It is a testament to the support of Members over many years and all other external stakeholders with whom we have been working. We now have the certainty to start development and go about finishing what we started, that is to secure the future of the Club with a magnificent new development with diversified revenue streams.” The Club proposes to invest $49 million building the new facility, creating hundreds of jobs during construction and an additional 35 permanent jobs upon completion. The 600 acre site with gentle rolling hills will have an 11 hectare wetland system created and 400,000 plantings with 95% indigenous species. Central to the Club’s development plans were extensive environmental assessments, believed to be an Australian first for the golf industry.
