PET-
FRIENDLY
BEACHES
Endless dog days of summer.
I
f your furry best friend loves the beach as much as you do, there’s no reason
they should stay behind when you visit the Golden Isles. Head to the sandy
shores of St. Simons Island’s East Beach or Massengale Park . (If it’s be-
tween Memorial Day and Labor Day, pets are only permitted before 9 a.m. and
after 6 p.m.) Jekyll Island’s Driftwood Beach, Great Dunes Beach, Oceanview
Beach and St. Andrews Beach are all pet-friendly, too. (Please avoid Glory Beach
and South Dunes Beach as they are active nesting areas for birds and other wild-
life.) Make sure to read posted signs and clean up after your pet.
Along with stretches of beaches perfect for running and swimming, there are
also great dog parks found throughout the Golden Isles. Turn to page 21 for a
