Numerous groups are popping up on
Facebook every day selling ARC copies
and sharing eBooks.
Websites offering free PDF downloads
of stolen books and people selling
paperbacks on eBay that they won in
giveaway contest or got as ARC copies.

To fight them in court takes a lot of
money but we can stop them if authors
and supportive readers report the sites
and groups.
A woman opened a group on Facebook and started selling ARC copies.
She said the books were given as gifts and she’s free to sell them and
profit from the book sales. WRONG! Authors, when you give out ARC
copies, have the readers sign a non-disclosure agreement, like
publishers do, that prevents the readers from selling your book. This
group was quickly closed because numerous authors and supportive
readers reported it.
In an other group an avid reader decided to open up her own library.
She had hundreds of eBooks that she either purchased or were gifted to
her for reviews. She uploaded the books to the group for anyone to
download and read for free. The group was reported and closed.
Authors, if you have given out ARC copies or had giveaways on
Goodreads, search for your book on eBay. The chances are that
someone is selling copies of your book. Report them!
