They found Terry sitting on the bench, crying.
She said to Pansy, “I searched again and I couldn’t
find my music box. Where could it be?”
Oliver sat on the bench beside the sobbing girl
and asked, “Is your music box pink and when you
open it a beautiful ballerina comes out to dance?”
“Yes,” Terry said with hope in her voice and
wiped her tears, “How do you know?”
Oliver moved a little farther away from Terry on
the bench and when Terry looked at him
questioningly he said, “I don’t want to prick you
with my quills by accident.”
Terry laughed, “Oh, don’t worry. I won’t touch
you again. Once was enough.”
Oliver smiled and began, “My mom heard from a
deer that somewhere close by lives an elf that has
been looking for a pink music box with a ballerina
inside it. He’s been breaking into people’s houses,
too.”
Pansy interrupted Oliver and said, “That must
be it! The elf must have stolen Terry’s music box.”
