There is only one job I did for ten years and that was a seasonal job: taxes.
I worked from January 2nd until April 15th.
From April 16th, until December 31st. I travelled most of the time.
Many people thought it was great to be able to travel for such a long time, and it was.
However, that was not my dream.
My dream was to be a nomad.
So, even though I travelled for many months at a time, it was not what I wanted.
I enjoyed my travels, of course I did, but it was not a lifestyle, it was not what I wanted.
I have never been known for doing things halfway, and even though I loved preparing taxes, I quit so I would be able to fulfil my dream.
That’s all I am saying. Don’t stop halfway, don’t get comfortable thinking, this is good enough.
Don’t settle for mediocre.
You deserve it all.
Don’t be afraid of success.
Never say:
Never.
It’s impossible.
Not now.
I can’t.
But.
Remove those words from your vocabulary, and say:
Always.
It is possible.
Yes, now.
And go for it, you deserve it!
With that in mind, I went for my dreams.
I still didn’t have that much money because I lost most of it in the market in 2008, so I had to figure a way to do all the travel I wanted to do without having big expenses.
That is when I came up with the idea of house sitting. After all, there are people all over the world looking for house sitters, you just pick where you want to go and when
The way these sites work is:
You sign in and pay a small yearly fee for the service (right now these fees are $59 to $79 depending on which site you choose). I use: www.housecarers.com and www.trustedhousesitters.com/
Then you post your profile on their web page and people that are looking for a house sitter contact you via the site’s email system (everything you do is through their web page) to see if you want to house sit for them. I use HouseCarers.com and TrustedHouseSitters.com and I have been very happy with them and with all the house sitting I have done.
