"The fastest I've ever produced a novel from idea through writing, rewriting, writing, rewriting, editing, proofing, layout, cover design, tweaking, uploading, setting up preorders, etc, was 8 months. Most of the rest of my life fell by the wayside during that time, and that's not particularly healthy--it has a cost. Like many others, I have a day job and family and fit writing around everything else. "Hard" costs (not counting writing time) for the cover, other services, marketing, and publicity (all of which take more TIME--and that's time NOT writing) was around $1,000, and I'm doing it on the cheap. Have I made that back? Not even close."

"I am, as of yet, unpublished. I'm working hard to get my book ready to present to the world. It's definitely a labor of love, and I hold so much respect to those who have gone through the journey I have just begun. I have never expected books for free. Have I read them? Of course. Who doesn't like free things. However, I prefer to pay for what I read. My favorites I've gone back and purchased a copy of, to give support. I also review almost everything I read. I have gotten to know quite a few authors, and have seen them deal with their triumphs and struggles. I'd much prefer to contribute to their triumphs."

"Like most authors, this isn't my day job—yet. It's a luxury I'm looking forward to, but until that day comes, I have to squeeze writing and editing into the margins of life. That's a lot of lunch breaks and late nights. Because of this, it can take a year or more just to complete the first draft of a full length novel. Then there are the 2nd, 3rd, and final drafts. It's a wonderfully rewarding processes, but it's a process—and a long one. And that's just the writing part, forget about the business side of it where you have the actual publishing, formating, and marketing."

Lily Amis

"Nothing good in Life is free. Why should I give away my heart & soul for Free? Every book is a reflection of our soul and is actually priceless."
