Whether
we like it or not, we
all need to take responsibility
in our working roles. Whether that be
presenting your feedback in a company
meeting, training a new staff member or even
taking a penalty kick. Scary stuff, we know. So it’s
no surprise that the pressure can sometimes get too
much…
Cusack remembers one incident, back when she
was captain for the Derbyshire U16s. The County Cup final
was decided on penalties but when it was Cusack’s turn
to take her shot, it wasn’t the outcome she had hoped for.
Although it would have been easy for Cusack to dwell
on her mistake, she insists that the best option is to focus
on the next task at hand. “I’m not going to go and cry
about it,” she urges. “I just look forward to the next
thing.” And from a gal who’s just been nominated
for the FA Women’s Championship’s player
of the month, this tactic seems to be
working pretty well for her.

day at work? Yep,
we’ve all been there. We
don’t know about you but giving
our best performances day in and day
out isn’t a very accurate representation of
who we are (as much as we would like it to
be!).
Although Davison says that bad games
can often leave her feeling disappointed, she
knows that next time round, things can only get
better. “It would all be put right when you next
train and get out on the pitch again,” she says.
“I always look forward to the next training after
a bad performance or a loss.” So, next time
you’ve had a bad day, don’t take it too
hard on yourself – think of tomorrow
as a new chance to show what
you’re really made of.
