Into freaky surf/skate/punk art and jams? ‘Don’t give a fuck’ attitudes? Ripped
jeans? Drinking beer? Crowd surfing? Then, boy, does GOAT have something for
you…
F
rom within the Shire, Space 44 is the mecca for all things your mother forbids you from getting involved in. This rundown old house turned art gallery and punk performance centre
independently owned by Cronulla locals Aaron Girgis and Jack Irvine have played host to
a number of hell-raising parties designed to showcase the talented young artists and musicians from across the Sutherland Shire since its beginnings in July 2011. From weekly art exhibitions, punk shows and more recently of their laneway festival, The Sounds of the Suburbs, came the
rise of Space 44 to become the most widely recognised and respected space for individual expression
through art and music. Aaron and Jack’s primary aim for this space is to build and bring together a
community based on the local artists and musicians that share their same unique passion. Space 44
allows this young generation of artistic individuals to showcase their art and music via a platform
that was previously non-existent within the local underground scene. So, basically if you and your
mates wanna shot-gun a few tins, check out some really creative art, rad music and meet the artists
behind it all, Space 44 is the place to get it done.
