MOOSE ALLEY CONES : Located just before Moose Alley in Pittsburg , NH on Rte 3 , stop and treat yourself to a local favorite Muddy Moose - two scoops of ice cream , brownies , hot fudge all in a waffle bowl with whipped cream and a cherry on top .
APRIL ’ S MAPLE : Where Life is Sweeter . Located on Rte 114 in Canaan , VT . Try the Maple Cremee , Maple soft serve ice cream with maple cream on the cone , dipped in maple crunch . Delicious !
Moose Tracks & Tips
“ Moose Alley ” in Pittsburg is one of the most popular places to see a moose in the North Country . It is located on Rte 3 in Pittsburg , north of the village .
Rte 26 from Dixville Notch to Errol , NH is a stretch of roadway where moose are commonly seen . Keep your eyes peeled for muddy bogs and swampland , where they tend to hang out .
Driving the “ 13 mile woods ” on Rte 16 from Errol to Milan is another great opportunity to see moose by the Androscoggin River .
Travelling along the quiet Rte 114 from Canaan to Norton , VT is another option to see them , as well .
Silvio Conte Nulhegan Basin – on Rte 105 in Brunswick , VT has over 150,000 acres perfect for moose sightings & wildlife watching .
DO NOT FEED OR APPROACH MOOSE – they are wild animals and should be enjoyed from a distance .
BE PATIENT – you improve your chances of seeing a moose by slowing down and looking around .
Moose are MOSTLY ACTIVE AT NIGHT but can be seen any time of the day .
BRAKE FOR MOOSE – due to their height and coloring , they do not show up well at night .
