The University of Hull Business School and University of Hull Go Connect Network organised the annual Going Global Week beginning 28th October 2013. The first day of that week was dedicated for a Culture fair where students from different countries shared their culture with staff and students of the university either by a dance performance, quiz competition or food stalls.
There were 8 groups of students from different countries such as Bangladesh, Romania, Malaysia, Nigeria, China, France, Mexico and Indonesia. Each of them presented their culture through traditional clothing, food, music or art. The Bangladesh group offered a quiz and the winner got a kindle. Other performances included live jazz by Sierra Leone band and a traditional Bengali dance.
Today’s students need to be aware of different international cultures and options not only for their future careers, whether that means working abroad or in the UK as part of a multinational organisation, but also to broaden their outlook and experience. The event turned out to be a success being attended by over 500 students and staff members.
