GET THE
RIGHT ANGLE
To make your face look slimmer, shoot your selfie from slightly above. Holding the camera slightly higher than your head so that it ' s pointing down on you will make your eyes look bigger and help you avoid " pig nose."
If you’ re including your torso in the shot, turn one shoulder slightly towards the camera. Stick your neck out just a little, which will help eliminate that little bulge under your chin.
If you turn your head a few degrees to the right or left, your features will appear less flat.
Instead of taking the picture head-on, experiment with different angles to show off your features.
Angling the camera slightly above yourself and taking a snapshot of your face and chest will highlight your cleavage.
USE A
FILTER!
You are very likely going to be using a smart device to take that selfie, unfortunately those cameras are the ones most likely to capture blemishes and accentuate those less than flattering features. Play with a photo filter to see what types of photos you can create which will hide the negative bits and inch you closer to selfie perfection.
LIGHT
IT UP!
During the day choose natural coming from behind you. That lighting will make you look soft and beautiful. At night( if you can) tilt the camera so the light glows across your cheek bones. Avoid the desire to use the flash or stand directly under a light, it can add dark shadows to your face that won’ t help that selfie to get any likes!
STAGE IT!
Be aware of your surroundings – Take a quick peep behind you to avoid the rabbit ears, the photo bomber or the string of dirty laundry that you need to hide from the internet! If you still haven’ t gotten it quite right then use that crop and zoom feature! After all the models use Photoshop, why can’ t you?
DO YOU!
We would tell you to avoid the duck face but you certainly already know that! Highlight your best assets. Try to get your face and just a bit of your shoulders included in the shot! Why not smile? Nothing lasts like a smile in a perfectly staged shot! This takes us to our next point.
DON’ T OVERDO IT
It’ s been said that selfie mania is an unnecessary act of narcissism, so avoid being that guy who posts a new shot every hour. However, once you consider using that camera on yourself in moderation, it’ s just another way to share your life with your friends or fans and have fun! Go for it and Good Luck!
