Guinea Plantation may be off the beaten path but total worth the detour as a venue for Weddings, functions & Events. Located in scenic St. John, it was one of the first sugar plantations built on the island and references to Guinea Plantation date as far back as 1654. It derived its name from being stocked all at once with Africans from the Guinea Coast. Additionally, the location holds some cultural and historical significance as the first seedlings of the mango brought to Barbados in 1742 were planted on the property. This spacious property was first owned by Humphrey Walrond, but now has been beautifully restored by the new owners, the Forde Family. Today they cater to weddings, events and tours.
Picture intimate gardens, roof deck, lounge, bridge and a picture-perfect plantation, lovingly restored. That is your backdrop for a truly memorable wedding or event. The grounds offer a myriad of photo opportunities and the beautifully appointed, bridal suite & grand bedrooms provide wedding day privacy and comfort.
As with many of the Old Plantation Great Houses in Barbados, it has been featured as part of the Barbados National Trust Open Houses programme 2014, where members of the public were given the opportunity to tour the historic residence.
The amenities available to those who choose to stay at the Guinea Plantation include swimming pool and Jacuzzi, lush gardens, catering services and self-service apartments.
Guinea Plantation provides an intimate setting for your wedding but can easily to transformed for your occasion. Guinea Plantation has been featured in several publications including- Forever I Do, has hosted photo shoots for Miss Barbados World, Queens College Pageant, Bridal features, Makeup artists and has been the site of popular kadooment parties and large corporate events.
