NOTE
I f Ponce de Leon had ever tired of searching for the fountain of youth, he may have been contented to find Barbados –“ A Jewel of the Caribbean”. Barbados would have enchanted him with crystal clear waters, brilliant blue skies, a fascinating culture and the warmth of the islands people. Visitors who travel to the island are pleasantly surprised to find all that and much more. But behind the guise of palm trees, turquoise seas and smiling faces, there’ s something hidden that visitors who flock to this island gem, would never know …
November in Barbados is the beginning of an all out war! Yes! War! But not the kind you think! It’ s a decorative feud between Independence Day( November 30 th) and Christmas. And the battle that ensues takes place in homes, stores, the media and in the minds of thousands of Barbadians. While the decision of whether to don the blue, yellow and black or trim the tree is not as difficult as what Christmas gifts to buy this season, it’ s always fun to see it unfold. When will the first Christmas song play? When will the lights go on and the decorations go up? Just what will happen this year? Whatever your decision, we hope that your season will be filled with the warmth of family, friends and God’ s blessings for a Happy Independence, a Merry Christmas & a joyous New Year. Happy Reading!
