Love Loud Fest was founded by member of Imagine Dragons,
Dan Reynolds, with the intent to bring to light that LGBT youth
have a 8 times higher risk of attempting suicide and create a
space where these youth can feel safe and accepted; which is
extremely important for youth living locally who have a
historically much harder time being accepted both by their
family and their peers. This concert series began in 2017 and
invites popular artists to perform at the Rice Eccles Stadium in
Salt Lake CIty. Films about acceptance and stories are also a
huge part of this celebration. The Love Loud Fest profits go to
The Trevor Project and Encircle, both which provide help and
a place for community for struggling LGBT youth.
Beginning in Provo, Encircle was created with the intent to
create a space to both educate parents and friends of LGBT
youth and to allow community building for those youth. As it
has gained more publicity and secured more funding, this
small house located within a few miles of BYU and just across
the street from a Mormon temple, has created a multitude of
projects and resources for the historically ostracized LGBT
community of the Orem/Provo area. These resources range
from educational videos and a queer reading list, to trained
volunteers who always make guests feel welcome and safe.
Everyday throughout the week evenings are planned for
groups called Friendship Circles which allow community
building with people who have similar identities and gives
space to talk about posing issues or just to have fun with other
LGBT individuals.
