18 Generation Next FC (GNFC) “kicked off” in September 2012 and our mission is to create a professional youth football club to afford the young footballers of Antigua & Barbuda and the Caribbean the opportunity to excel and achieve excellence through football. GNFC programme is dedicated to the development of each player to reach their maximum potential not only as a player but also as a citizen. GNFC coaching staff are committed to providing a training environment that will challenge each player, educate, teach tactic and techniques, and assist via our international professional leagues’ partner clubs, in securing higher educational scholarships and placements in English Premier League and Major League Soccer clubs academies. GNFC emphasis is placed on the importance of long term player growth. We expect all our young footballers to be committed in becoming best players and citizens they can be. GNFC’s vision is to be the premium football academy and regional leader in the creation and delivery of accredited football programmes and services in the region. GNFC will The CONCEPT: In October 2011, Antigua & Barbuda’s newest, and leading secondary school, St. Anthony’s Secondary School (SASS), conceptualized a programme to offer high level coaching from an internationally renown professional club so as to aid in the development of our islands young footballers in not only reaching their full potential, but also to create opportunities and pathways for educational scholarships through the sport of football. This initiative brought together Richard “Ricky” Santos, Chairman of the Board of SASS and Veron “Epilus” Edwards former National Captain and Co-Orindator of the Football Programme at SASS. By February of 2012, two coaches from English Premier Club, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Miles Leighton and Ryan Hall, conducted a week long coaching clinic with 97 young footballers participating.
