soft , and melted to perfection . The cherry tomatoes and basil combined for that “ Ah Margherita !” flavor that rounded out this gem . I intended to take some home , and I did . Just not in a box .
We also ordered the Western BBQ Burger ( Sweet and smokey BBQ sauce , crispy onion , American cheeze and pickles on a sesame seed bun ). We ordered sans the bun and shared it ala lettuce wrap . It was great and should be tried by any BBQ burger lover .
By end of the main course , we were floating with glee . Cassidy presented dessert options . We had to try a few things … for research . We followed Cassidy ’ s lead and ordered the “ Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich .” Like the menu says , it was gluten-free and delicious . We had to try the Root Beer Float ( Alameda Point craft Root Beer , house made gluten-free vanilla ice cream ). It was sublime . We rounded out this magical course with a gluten-free chocolate cupcake and scoop of house-made gluten-free vanilla bean ice cream . I tried everything and loved it all . Who knew these delightful treats we ’ ve been eating since childhood could be made with our health in mind — good for you and void of chemicals and ingredients we can ’ t pronounce ?
In all , we were so delighted with the entire experience that we have been back several times since our first visit .
Without hesitation we highly recommend Craft Roots for even the most discerning eater . If you or a member of your party have special health requests , Justin and his staff will do their utmost to accommodate . Justin says it ’ s a source of pride to find creative ways to help people enjoy themselves and their experience . The menu is vast but not overwhelming . They offer salads , wraps , gluten-free , meat-free , and dairy-free burgers , bites , and sandwiches and , of course , dessert . As a reminder , they serve over 30 local and regional beers , a creative cocktail menu , and plenty of non-alcoholic options .
This is eating at its finest . From the moment you walk in , Justin and his staff ’ s dedication to excellence is evident . Also , their commitment to the community is admirable . A recent example is their participation in the “ Meals for Heroes , Revenue for Restaurants ” campaign to provide meals to frontline medical staff at our regional hospitals . If you haven ’ t tried them , you should . And if you see me there , non-social and eating with my head down , it ’ s not personal ; I ’ m just really into my pizza .

Help Local Efforts to End Food Insecurity

The California Association of Food Banks reports that although California produces nearly half of the nation ’ s fruits and vegetables , still 1 in 5 Californians — that ’ s about 8 million — currently struggle with food insecurity . “ Food insecurity ” is the occasional or constant lack of access to the food one needs for a healthy , active life .
Food & Drink : Dining Out

Food insecurity has serious impacts on an individual ’ s well-being , which may result in poor school attendance and performance , lowered workplace productivity , and physical and mental health problems . Individuals struggling with food insecurity have to make tough decisions that no one should face . No family should have to decide between buying groceries or paying rent , no senior should have to choose between food and medicine , and no parent should have to skip a meal in order for their children to eat .

There is much we can do right here in our communities to help end food insecurity . Please consider supporting and / or volunteering at the agencies listed on the right , and spread the word about available food progams in our communities . We are stronger together . And together we can end food insecurity in our communities .
