Quiet Giants : Glenn Goldsmith

The couple received recognition for their contributions in 1990 when they were named Gilroy ’ s Man and Woman of the Year . Then in 2015 , Glenn was inducted into the Gilroy Hall of Fame . When the couple moved to Kauai , in 1998 , where Jane still resides , they continued their philanthropic efforts , contributing to the National Kauai Tropical Botanic Garden , the Kauai United Way , and the Kauai Independent Food Bank .
In 2008 , Goldman Seeds was sold to Syngenta Flowers LLC , which Joel admitted wasn ’ t an easy decision . “ The key factor in the deal was continued employment to Goldman Seeds employees ,” Joel said .
Although Glenn is gone , the lessons he and Jane provided their sons live on . “ He always treated his employees with a great deal of respect ,” Joel said , adding that he ' s tried to pass those same traits onto his children .
“ They showed me that there is always room for kindness and generosity in all affairs ,” William added .
