Deb chose the shrimp scampi over pasta . ( Shrimp tails over a bed of pasta in butter , extra-virgin olive oil , shallots , garlic , white wine reduction , lemon juice and seasonings , topped with parsley ). It was delicious and the shrimp was perfectly tender and plentiful .
Erin ordered the grilled salmon entrée and received a generous cut of perfectly grilled salmon perched atop a bed of roasted potatoes and grilled veggies . Since we were all enthusiastically sharing , I can say the salmon melted in my mouth .
David caught the fish and chips . The fish was beautifully battered , light and airy . The portions were very nice – no throwing them back . The meat was tender and the batter , while seasoned , enhanced the offering from the sea .
Always the light eater , I ordered the ribeye rare . From the time it touched down in front of me , I ’ m pretty sure I stopped paying attention to everything and everyone else , at least for a few seconds . Roasted potatoes and grilled veggies flanked my ribeye but I barely noticed ( though they were beautifully prepared ) as my steak took center stage .. I only shared with the table out of guilt because everyone else was sharing . All in all , I would have been happy with any dish we ordered . Adam and Ann have built a great reputation for delivering consistently high quality meals , prepared with care , great flavor and creativity .
We had so much fun AND food that we opted out of dessert ; meals were that good . As we wrapped up and continued to chat , Adam and Ann surprised us with a bottle of champagne and joined us for a toast and great conversation to end our dining out experience . In all truth , that was the best dessert we could have had .
The Milias has a full menu of pastas , salads , proteins and creative appetizers and desserts and a full , beautiful bar . You ’ ll find live music on the weekends and always run into someone you know – or someone you ’ re about to know . The Milias is part old Gilroy , part “ Cheers ” and part a great story of Ann and Adam ’ s determination and drive to get through the economic shutdown and the everchanging mandates . Through creativity and courage , grit and grinding it out , Ann and Adam ’ s Milias restaurant will be here for years to come . We are happy to say that they are not merely still standing , they are on the way back to the good ol days of a packed house , and a bright future ahead . Thank you Ann and Adam for always going the extra mile !
