LOWE ’ S VOLUNTEERS RENOVATE GILROY CENTER FOR THE ARTS - When Toni Bowles from the Neon Exchange in Downtown Gilroy learned about the Lowe ’ s 100 Hometowns grant program , she applied for the grant on behalf of her neighbors and fellow downtown organization , the Gilroy Center for the Arts / Gilroy Arts Alliance . As recipient of the grant , the Center was given a new coat of paint inside and out . Lowe ’ s employees volunteered to get the job done , led by store manager Mike Wassermann , who worked alongside the crew all day . The new paint looks amazing , and its just in time as things begin to open up in downtown . Thank you Toni Bowles for applying for the grant , and thank you Lowe ’ s for sharing your day volunteering to make Gilroy better for all ! The Center for the Arts is home to art classess , exhibits , workshops and the renowned Limelight Theater . 6TH STREET ART STUDIOS - Presented “ Just Breathe - Through the Hoops ” art exhibit in August , weekend art markets all Summer long , a Celebrating Frida craft fair , their first Annual Summer Gala , and multiple exhibits featuring local artists .
