cauliflower, scallions and tomatoes in a Lebanese lime butter sauce tossed with Capellini pasta). I went for one of my all-time favorites, Veal Piccata (tender veal sautéed in a lemon, butter and caper sauce, served with herbed rice). Usually at these Dining Out with Friends events, we get lots of creative comments (J. Chris calls them adjec- tives) decribing each dish. With 8- and 11-year-old’s, however, adjec- tives were pretty much limited to the generic “good” and/or “tasty.” After a little prodding we discovered that the Alfredo Pasta was “creamy and cheesy like comfort food.” The Linguini Con Pesto was “flavorful and the pesto was not overpowering.” The Calabrese was “really good especially if you were hungry.” The Mediterranean Chicken polenta was “well balanced and zesty.” The Veal Piccata a “classic great mix.” The Lebanese Scampi was a “touch exotic” with the olives and cauliflower, and delicious.” With the girls there was no way we were going to leave without trying some dessert. Isabella went for the chocolate cake which was “the best ever.” Addison tried the cannelloni which we all had to taste. It had a very crunchy shell with a nice smooth filling. Lexi finally got her vanilla ice cream. I should note that there were no leftover desserts but we had five take- home boxes of partial entrees. The Calabrese made for an excellent meal the next day. The flavors blended wonderfully! On another note I should mention that Mama Mia’s also has an excellent selection of made-to-order pizzas. I was a little surprised that none of the girls ordered a pizza. With restaurants in both Morgan Hill and Gilroy, Mama Mia's is an excellent option for a family meal or a quiet date night. Owner Majid Bahriny and his restaurant crews are exceptional community partners in both communities.
