…pretty good for old folks!

he weather outside is frightful, But the fi re is so
delightful, And since we've no place to go, Let It Rain!
Let It Rain! Let It Rain! A little modifi cation on a classic but
what can I say — snow is not even on the radar in the South
Santa Clara Valley. But, as I write this, it is pouring outside and
I have a nice fi re going in my offi ce to ward off the cold…ergo
the lyrics.
We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that the
New Year, 2020 no less, will be filled with new and exciting
adventures, time spent with loved ones, and a nice cup of coffee
or glass of wine and the latest edition of gmhTODAY.
It is again our pleasure to feature some pretty dynamic folks
who we feel warrant watching in 2020 (pages 21-33). Each
year, we ask a number of folks who have a pulse on each of
our communities to submit names. We want to thank them for
giving us the opportunity to acknowledge and highlight these
folks, their past accomplishments and their future goals.
As time passes, it is easy to put even tragedies behind us.
The folks who spearheaded the program, Gilroy Rocks, Carol
Peters, Jill Vanni, Brad Chaboya and Mike Sanchez deserve a
big thank you for helping the community of Gilroy to heal. If
you find one of these rocks, you have a treasure to either keep
or re-hide for someone else to do the same.
Every so often there's a really “cool find.” I have two “cool
finds” that I want to mention. One is Mainstream Boutique,
Morgan Hill and the other is She's Consignment & Gifts in
Hollister. I'm a bit of a clothes horse so I'm really looking into
Karen LaCorte's "The Wardrobe Challenge.” The clothing at
Mainstream Boutique may just give me the incentive to clean
out my closet—so I can make room for my new purchases.
I truly feel inspired. And the uniqueness and quality of
merchandise along with the friendliness of Sheila and crew at
She's is awe inspiring. If you have some time, take a ride, visit
their shop and have lunch at Paine's across the street.
Saying goodbye to Limelight Actors Theater is bittersweet.
We will miss Kevin Heath and Alan Obata and wish them all the
best in their new journey. There is a silver lining, however. The
South Valley Civic Theater is going to take over productions at
the Gilroy Art Center, and we all know what a great job they do.
Have a good Winter and we'll see you again in the Spring.
