Updates on openings and plans:
Morgan Hill
El Toro Brewing Company Brewpub (building) has sold…no word
on the future of El Toro Brewing (business).
Bubbles Wine Bar is now Bubbles and Brew: Food, Wine, Beer with
an outdoor beer garden.
Kelly Brewing hosted a grand opening on March 9-10.
Gilroy
Promised Land opened on March 8.
Golden State Brewery will reopen this Spring.
Lonely Oak Brew Pub and Pizzeria (7373 Monterey Road) a new
brewery is targeting a July 2019 opening.
Vines & Pints (7511 Monterey Road) a new tap room with limited
gourmet menu and an opening targeted for November 2019.
Hideaway Hopyards is a local beer-related agricultural
venture by Scott Alexander and Daniel Goldsmith. They are
growing American Hops. There is a limited number hop
growers in California.
Hops are typically imported from Washington and
Oregon and are normally last year’s crop. Fresh hops have
been a rarity but not anymore if Scott and Daniel have a say
in the matter. Fresh hops are used to make a seasonal IPA.
Some local breweries have already made commitments to
order from their 2019 crop.
This is Hideaway Hopyard’s third year and they are
looking forward to their biggest harvest this summer.
