They were the hit of the evening.
While I really liked the Curried
Pork, it was a little too strong for the
rest of the crew. Much to my delight, as
this allowed me to take some home for
a later day!
As we wondered through these
delights we ordered a bottle of Prova
Red Wine, which originated in Gilroy.
It was a delightful blend that managed
to pair up well with all the different
flavors we were experiencing.
As the evening progressed we
decided to try a few more shared
dishes: Corn Bread (jalapeno, maple
butter, cheddar), Chile Verde Carnitas
Dip (cilantro, oaxaca cheese, tortilla
chips), and Lobster & Shrimp Sliders
(canadian lobster, shrimp, avocado
crema, bacon, garlic buns).
The Corn Bread looked so
appetizing that we were forced to break
a cardinal rule of our Dining Out with
Friends. We all dug into it before I had
a chance to photograph it! It was a
great mixture of sweat and savory.
The Chile Verde Carnitas Dip was
the runner up hit of the evening. It was
a suggestion from Eddie and Gloria’s
daughter, Shelby. The chips were fresh
and crispy and the dip was delightful,
not too spicy but still very flavorful.
The Lobster & Shrimp Sliders were
elegantly presented, light and tasty.
The ladies seemed to think the sliders,
with a little salad, would make a perfect
ladies’ brunch.
We wrapped up the evening with a
couple of hot and perfectly prepared
decafé cappuccinos and two desserts:
Bread Pudding (White Chocolate,
Macadamia Nuts, Rum, Warm Salted
Caramel, Vanilla Gelato) and an Apple
Turnover (Candied Puff Pastry, Filled
with Cinnamon Apple, Caramel,
Toasted Walnuts, Vanilla Gelato.)
Eddie declared that the Bread
Pudding was “so frekkin’ good.” The
crispy edges of the pudding paired
up well with the creamy gelato. The
turnover, which had just been baked,
was light and flaky, another perfect
combination of tastes and textures.
Prova is a taste experience you won't
want to miss. We plan to go back and
try one of their ever changing “Daily
Burger” or the Entrée Salad, where the
guest gets to choose from one of four
greens, six of twenty-four toppings,
one of seven proteins and one of five
dressings.
