When one arrived in the mail, I would pore over it until I had read the same stories a dozen times. The wait between issues was agonizing. One day, I decided I was done waiting. I’d write my own magazine. I holed myself up in my bedroom and didn’t emerge until the first issue of Nothing But Kids was completed. My mom helped me xerox a few copies for friends and family. From there, the magazine grew to a thriving business. The South Valley Magazine Writing Program is the answer to a question I’ve asked myself for several years—”How can I pass the incredible experience I had to the next generation?” 106 GILROY • MORGAN HILL • SAN MARTIN NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2017 gmhtoday.com
