STEP 3: Submit the FERPA Consent Form found on GMercyU’s website which gives us permission to speak with specific people regarding your financial aid. This is especially important if your parent or guardian will be helping to pay your college expenses. FERPA? What’s FERPA? FERPA stands for Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act. Basically, it was established to protect your privacy. For more information, see page 12. STEP 4: Review your financial aid award letter and the financial aid terms and conditions, submit a signed copy of your award letter to us, and keep a copy for your records. If you have questions, contact Financial Aid at financialaid@gmercyu.edu, by phone at 215-646-7300 ext. 216 or Fax at 215-641-5556. TIP Your financial aid cannot be disbursed until we have a signed financial aid award letter! If you have questions about your award package, don’t hesitate to contact us. Federal Direct Loan Recipients If you are receiving Federal Direct Loans for the first time, you must complete entrance counseling and a master promissory note (found at studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan) before you can receive loan funds. It’s essential that you complete this step prior to your tuition bill payment deadline. Anticipated Aid Anticipated Aid is the amount of aid you should receive based on the results of your FAFSA. If your anticipated aid on your billing invoice does not match your award letter or if you are missing an award, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 215-646-7300, ext.21216 or financialaid@ gmercyu.edu. Book Vouchers If your anticipated financial aid results in a credit balance, you may be entitled to use that credit toward book vouchers. Book vouchers are available beginning August 1 in person at the Campbell Solution Center. You will first need to visit our campus book store to determine cost. Then the Campbell Solution Center staff will put that amount on your ID card to purchase your books at the campus book store. Excess Financial Aid Refunds If you have a credit on your account once all your financial aid is received by the University for the fall or spring semester, a refund will be issued to you within 10 days of the disbursement of your financial aid. You can sign up for E-Refund through your GMercyU Self-Service account, and have your refund automatically sent to your designated bank account. Your Aid Award You will receive your financial aid award letter within just a couple of weeks after we receive a completed FAFSA. GMercyU’s aid packages take into account costs associated with tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses. 8
