GMAQ Club Survey
The GMAQ executive decided a few weeks ago to survey our club members in an effort to provide a snap shot of how the
golf industry in South East Queensland is performing. The response from clubs has been exceptional and I would like to thank
those managers who took the time out of their busy schedules to complete the survey. Below is a brief summary of the results of this survey:
• 22 clubs participated of which 77% were 18 hole courses, 14% - 36 hole courses
• 60% of participants EOY is June, 32% in September
• 45% of participants have a 7 day membership charge between $500 -$1000; 27% $2001 plus
• 32% have no entrance fee; 41% $1000 or more
• Competition fees: <$10 – 23%, $10 – 41%, $11 – 14%, $12 – 23%
• Green fee rate: 41% $26 - $40; $46 - $50 & >$51 were 27% each
• Rainfall 2010-11 – 41% had greater than 2000mm (1 club mentioned that they had 2814mm)
• Rainfall 2011-12 – 46% had greater than 2000mm (1 club mentioned that they had 2750mm)
• 73% of clubs lost in excess of 41 days play in 2010-11
• 64% of clubs lost in excess of 41 days play in 2011-12
• 64% of clubs recorded a decrease in social golf revenue in 2011-12 compared to 2010-11
• 59% of clubs recorded a decrease in bar revenue in 2011-12 compared to 2010-11
