MAKING DUBAI A MORE EVENTFUL CITY

Nadia Siddiqui previously served as a PR Manager at a leading events organisation , till she decided to launch her company , Box Office Events in 2014 , which has now become a leading PR , events and celebrity management business in the UAE .
Across seven years , she has successfully managed promotional activities of over 55 Bollywood movies , several high profile Bollywood , European and American concerts and PR launches .
GLOSS had a quick chat with the female powerhouse about the industry and how she tackles the exhausting line of work that event management is .
How did you manage to grow Box Office within a few years ? We worked hard to grow our company and branded it with the right kind of events . Our vision was very clear , and we knew where we want to be seen . Several goals were set , a lot of dedication was given , which was followed by our passion , hard work and persistence . We believe these traits are keys to success in general including ours . We are also fortunate with the kind of work that came along .
Events management is an exhausting field of work . How do you balance your professional and personal life ? Event management is definitely an arduous and time-consuming work . We are working round the clock , and sometimes have to compromise on our social and family life . Having said that , there is still no other industry as fun and full of life . You meet great people , network and enjoy some very good moments .
What kind of events do you enjoy working on the most ? I love commercial events like concerts and movie promotions . They are very challenging and interesting .
I love music and films , so I really enjoy working on these projects .
Your favorite experience so far ? I cannot recall which is my favourite event or experience as most of the them have been entertaining . Working hard on each event , giving your best shot , and seeing the result is always extremely overwhelming .
Any advice or tips you would like to give to someone who may want to start an events company or join one ? I simply advise or request that join only if you have the genuine drive and passion for events . It takes a lot of patience and discipline to do events ; it ’ s not always as glamorous as it looks . So , if you want to start up or join a company , either way , have an attitude that is free from stress and learn to bear with the fact that your personal life will perhaps be disturbed . You must carry all the responsibility on your shoulder , so be prepared for that .
