Karate taught me that courage is a powerful enabler of our ability to not only survive but to thrive. In business, people and circumstances equally challenge us and demand that we act courageously. The strength of both our conviction and resolve to succeed matter at work as much as they do in any other area of life. While in business it isn’t often a matter of life and death, our ability to reach levels of performance and success occasions in which we are essentially alone in making the choices that will best serve our objectives. While others can guide us, we must find answers within ourselves and have the courage to make the decisions we believe are right. If we choose, every one of us can muster the depth of courage necessary to step out of our comfort zones, go against the grain, and do what we feel is right for us.
