Recycling 1kg of aluminium saves up to:

-6kg of bauxite

-4kg of chemical products

-14kWh of electricity

Although recycling it saves energy and raw materials, yet many cans go to landfill. The problem is that we don’t have recycling plants. The only special ‘closed-loop’ plant is in Warrington, England. And many people don’t even care. As I said before, many recyclable materials are gone to waste. We need to increase our awareness and protect the environment as best as we can.

It also can be a fun process and we demonstrated that in our school by making a ‘can-eating fish’. In other words we made a recycling bin which form is like a fish and its function is to contain aluminium cans. It turned out to be a ‘terrific’ idea and the students love ‘feeding’ the fish.

The point is that we need to have a more creative approach towards recycling. Whether it is aluminium or other materials. In that way we can do much for our environment while we are having fun at it.
