TRAVEL
Experience in travel?
From a young age I was brought up
in a holiday environment with parents
who owned UK holiday parks all their
working lives, I loved the travel industry
so In 1989 I took on my own travel
agency in Winscombe which I have
been running successfully for 27 years,
until October just gone, when I sold
the business due to health reasons to
Global Independent Travel. Where I am
now pleased to be a part of the team
on a part time basis.
Favourite holiday destination?
My favourite holiday destination is Italy,
it’s a beautiful country with so much
history and beauty.
Why you love what you do?
It’s always a pleasure to assist in
customers travel plans, from the
planning stage to feedback once the
holiday has come to an end, customers
have shared some fascinating stories
with me over the years, it’s the most
satisfying feeling in the World to know
I helped to create such wonderful
memories for others.
Your most extravagant purchase?
The design patent and manufacturing
of ‘Scrapemates’ a little idea I had two
years ago for a novelty scratch card
scraper soon to be sold in all the lottery
retail outlets in partnership with Camelot.
Who would you most like to be
seated on an aeroplane with?
Steven Hawking.
What currently ranks highest
on your travel wish list?
A World cruise, I love to cruise.
What’s your favourite movie?
The Secret.
What’s your favourite quote?
‘Live for now because now is
all we ever have’.
What skill would you most like to master?
To cook an authentic Indian curry, I would
love to attend an Indian cookery school.
What’s the strangest thing
you have ever eaten?
The strangest thing I’ve ever eaten
and still do at any given opportunity
(although I personally don’t think it’s
strange but it’s deemed strange by those
around me) is an Indian phall, I love any
kind of hot food, the hotter the better!
3 ideal dinner guests?
Sanjeev Kapoor, the most amazing
Indian chef, although he could only
join us for dinner if he cooked it! The
other two places would be taken by
Steven Hawking and Einstein, it would
be the most perfect combination of
food and conversation.
