225 Textile Units Shut in Pali

Mumbai : The operations at 225 textile units in Pali district of Rajasthan have come to a halt after a common effluent treatment plant ( CETP ) stopped accepting their effluents following a directive from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board ( RSPCB ).

New Delhi : The Ministry of Textiles ( MoT ) has affirmed that the exports of textile and apparel sector have marginally grown to US $ 39.2 billion in FY 2017-18 as compared to US $ 39 billion in the prior FY .
Mr . Ajay Tamta , the Minister of State for Textiles further elucidated the General assembly that apart from the slight increase in exports , country ’ s imports witnessed a significant growth of 17 per cent , reaching to US $ 7.3 billion in the current FY as compared to US $ 6.3 billion in the 2016- 17 fiscal year .
The Centre has hiked customs duty from 10 to 20 per cent on various fabrics , apparels , made-ups and carpets to restrict imports of textile and clothing in the nation .
The Minister that the Cotton Advisory Board ( CAB ) has been expecting the cotton production for the current season 2017-18 ( October 2017 to September 2018 ) to be at 370 lakh bales .
From October 2017 to April 2018 , the total amount of cotton exported from India was 51.21 lakh bales .
The Minister added , the CAB has calculated that during the current cotton season 2017-18 , the export has expected to reach 70 lakh bales by September , a growth of 20 per cent as compared to previous year .
Despite many measures taken by the Government to promote silk production , the country still imports silk products from Korea , China and Japan .
The import of raw silk has significantly come down from 2011-12 to 2017-18 registering a deficit of 1971 tonnes due to the boost that was given for the manufacturing of import-alternate Bivoltine raw silk from within the nation .
India Dresses & Gown export to US
Mumbai : The USA imported dresses worth US $ 2109.368 million and dressing gowns worth US $ 223.535 million worldwide during January to May 2018 period .
However , the country witnessed a downfall of 3.63 per cent in dresses category from the previous year whereas a rise of 6.93 per cent in dressing gown category .
China continued to dominate in both the categories . It exported dresses worth US $ 840.940 million and dressing gowns worth US $ 129.156 million to USA in the mentioned period .
Vietnam secured the second position as it exported dresses to the US market worth US $ 399.582 million experiencing a growth of 9.59 per cent , whereas dressing gowns worth US $ 30.715 million up by 24.45 per cent .
India did noticeably well this time . The country earned US $ 233.923 million from the dresses exports , however , the export value in dressing gowns category , by any means , can ’ t be said remarkable as the country could just clock US $ 10.807 million in the said category . Cambodia posted a commendable growth of 27.83 per cent and earned US $ 17.067 million from the dressing gowns category beating the figures of India . Notably , the growth per cent was the highest among the all top five exporting countries to the US for the mentioned category .
Italy was also among the top five exporters of dresses to the US and exported worth US $ 54 . 451 million experiencing a growth of 11.70 per cent . Indonesia fell significantly by 15.31 per cent and 6.46 per cent , respectively in the exports of dresses and dressing gowns . Dresses clocked US $ 176 . 519 million , while dressing gown earned US $ 8.788 million for Indonesia .

According to the board reports , mentioned that sludge was found stored in a haphazard manner at CETP-4 and large quantities of it was lying in the open .
The boundary wall near the sludge yard , along the river bank , was also found to be damaged . No pucca road has been provided for movement of vehicles that carry sludge at CETP-4 and flow of coloured effluent with a pungent smell was noticed at river stretches .
The National Green Tribunal ( NGT ), while hearing a petition on the pollution in the Bandi river had asked the Jodhpur divisional commissioner to submit a report on whether the deficiencies pointed out by the committee it had formed were rectified or not .
