04 International Conference on Advanced Textiles Announced
Coimbatore: Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women will be organizing an international conference in collaboration with Texas Tech University, USA in its campus in Coimbatore, India between January 30th and 31st, 2019.
In continuation with the tradition, Lubbock-based Texas Tech University will be organizing the eighth“ Advances in Sustainable Materials, Nonwovens, Technical Textiles and Textile Machinery,”

conference popularly known as ATNT in Coimbatore during January 2019.
The INDO-US collaborative conference will provide a cost effective platform for international stakeholders in the advanced textiles field to discuss new developments such as cutting-edge improvements in cotton production and technology, sustainable textile materials, eco-friendly processing, nonwovens, industrial textiles and functional materials in an open platform.
In speaking about the conference, Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, stated,“ Our institute is pleased to collaborate for the second time, with Texas Tech University in organizing the ATNT event on advanced textiles.”
Commenting on the scope of the event, Dr. Premavathy Vijayan further added that Avinashilingam Institute has been pioneering in research efforts on sustainable materials and biotextiles and hence this forum is a perfect fit for us to partner with Texas Tech University, which is a leader in the field of cotton and technical textiles.
Dr. N. Vasugi Raaja, Dean, School of Home Science at Avinashilingam Institute will work with this scribe side-by-side in conducting the international conference.
Dr. Vasugi Raaja stated that this event provides ample opportunities for international stakeholders, as India is an important place for textile and manufacturing sectors.
The deliberations will be published in
a reputed international journal which may benefit scientists and academics for their carrier development.
The organizers hope to provide focused interactive sessions with the international industry to help grow business initiatives and gain useful information on new research and business developments. Many global international professional and industry organizations will be supporting the event.
The theme and the location of the conference are ideal for global players in the field of textiles to assemble in India for the eighth time as ATNT.

BIBA opens 21st Store in Delhi
Mumbai: BIBA has strengthened its retail presence in Delhi by adding one more store in the city.
The ethnic-wear label inaugurated its 21st store in Delhi and overall 35th in Delhi-NCR. The newly inaugurated store of the retail brand is housed at Connaught Place, a prominent location in the city.
Apparels including kurtas, kurtis, skirts, tunics, and dresses has been put for customers. Additionally, dedicated space for Biba girls and jewellery has been allocated at the store which is spread in an area of 1,400 square feet.
The ethnic-wear brand, which currently operates around 250 stores, is targeting to note Rs. 600-crore revenue in the current financial year with all its business plans in place. BIBA has been noticing a 30-35 per cent increase in its revenue.
BIBA has decided to add around 200 new stores under its flagship brand Biba by 2020.

As of FY18, Monte Carlo’ s pan- India retail presence comprised 234 EBOs( company-owned as well as franchised), over 2500 MBOs and 270 NCS, including large format stores like Reliance Retail, Shopper Stop, Aditya Birla fashion, Central and Kapsons.
Pakistan Govt. to Promote Exports
Mumbai: The Government has released nearly Rs32 billion in cash support for promoting exports of textile and clothing in the last one and half years.
Pakistan s export of textile and clothing reached $ 13.53bn in 2017-18 as against $ 12.45bn over the previous year, reflecting an increase of 8.67pc.
The growth pattern was much higher in the exports of value-added sectors garments, knitwear and bedwear during the outgoing fiscal year.
According to the textile policy, exports from the sector will reach $ 26bn by end 2019 from $ 13bn in 2016 the year when the policy was announced.
In this package, the government has paid Rs2.69bn under the scheme of drawback of local taxes and levy for the period from 2014-17.
The total claims received under this scheme are estimated to be Rs8.8bn.
