Bullying
A thirteen-year-old girl, thought things were going well at her new school, since all the popular girls were being so nice to her. Then she found out that one of them had posted mean rumors about her. She cried herself to sleep that night and started going to the nurse's office complaining of a stomachache to avoid the girls in class.
The effects of bullying might be drastic and sometimes it leads to suicide. Psychologists stated that many of the children who are affected by bullying can have their developmental processes affected by the events. Studies have shown that reasons behind bullying include the tendency of power and control.
Parents can notice the signs more eminently since they are directly involved. They should listen well and have open conversations to help find ways to deal with the problem. They shouldn't blame the child for what's happening. It is important to teach them to face their fear and stand up for their rights.
The school and teachers can also help in solving this problem; they have to be aware of the school's policy about bullying. They also need to inform the students about the policies of bullying by classroom activities about the topic. If it still occurs, they have to take immediate actions.
Students are also responsible for dealing with bullies. They have to avoid any encouter with them. They have to learn to speak up and seek help.
Bullying is very painful especially during adolescence, and it should be dealt with on the spot or it will cause damage to the personality of the victims' for their entire lives.
