A star is born
Fast forward to 2014 and Folau is now an established member of the Australian national side and one of the most recognisable faces in International Rugby. The 6 foot 5, 98kgs full back/winger of Tongan descent, burst onto the international scene in dramatic fashion with two superb tries against the British & Irish Lions in a performance that made the rugby world appreciate that a new star had arrived. His battles on the wing against George North were worth the entrance fee alone. The Lions eventually triumphed 2-1 in the Series but the displays of Folau will long be remembered.
In Super Rugby this year Folau has been simply incredible. To date he has scored 8 tries in his side's 4 matches, including a hat-trick, 2 braces and a single try to put him at the top of the try scoring charts. The record for Super Rugby in a season currently stands at 15 (held by Joe Roff and Rico Gear), surely it's only a matter of time before Folau smashes it to pieces. Folau has many attributed but his reading of the game and his ability of being in the right place at the right time is possibly the best in world rugby at the moment. He's also a supreme athlete with his main attributes being, he's superb in the air, extremely fast, agile, strong and can step excellently off either foot.
Who knows how far Folau can progress in Rugby Union, there's certainly a lot of goals for him to aim for with the Code offering up plenty of challenges. With the possibilities of lifting the Super Rugby trophy, a Rugby Championship and even a World Cup to play for in 2015.
