South Africa A busy 2020 in RSA It has been a busy 2020 so far for our South African teams which have included record pack-out numbers of our Valencia oranges, the installation of the Farm trace ERP system, the building of a 60,000 cubic litre dam in Schuitrift and not to mention the completion of our world class packhouse facilities in Maswiri! Wow, haven’t we been busy. State of art packing line Our world leading packhouse in Maswiri has recently been completed as part of our ongoing development to reach technical excellence at source on our citrus farms. A fabulous farm office On farm in Zonquasdrift we’ve had all our block end signs replaced and we’ve installed new irrigation pipes to our young Nadorcott trees. The farm office has had a lick of paint and a refresh too. Last year our GREEFA grading machine was a new addition to our operating line and we’re delighted that our Binmatic system is also now fully functional. The GREEFA SmartSort automatically processes 12 fruits per lane, per second and works in conjunction with our new Binmatic system. Our fruit now benefits from the Binmatic’s pre-grading channels too which allow seamless internal bin logistics, ensuring automatic and efficient processing of our filled and empty containers. As part of the system our new wet-line enables us to seamlessly wash, wax, treat and dry our fruit, ready for packing on site. It couldn’t be more seamless in SA! DIRECT Alongside our well known Elara Gold FROM OUR FARMS brand, this summer also sees the introduction of Elara – direct from our farms a kraft paper box for our second class citrus. JULY 2020 06
