Lockdown Life Dad of two Matias from our Chilean office, has enjoyed spending quality time with his growing family and brought the park indoors by fitting a swing in his living room! The most recent addition Leon Arthur was born on the 12th July – welcome to the Jupiter family. Not too from our vineyards in Greece our Senior Procurement Manager Dimi has enjoyed a plethora of activities revelling in the time spent at home rather than travelling as he usually does. Not only has he also, for the first time, planted a veggie patch in his garden, he has invested time each day to play football with his children, enjoyed evenings binge watching Netflix with his wife and spent weekends walking in the forest as a family. His downtime activities don’t stop there; he’s smashed his 10k PB with an impressive 52min 38sec finish time and clocked up 210km of speed running in April alone. Over in the Netherlands, our Retail Desk Assistant Janet looked to the skyline for inspiration and set about taking a series of photographs from her home capturing how the space above us changes each day. Back in the UK, our CEO Mark, MD Yvonne, their family and the rest of their much loved rugby club network joined forces to raise money for the club in Burton, Staffordshire due to Covid-19 cutting the season and in turn their fundraising events schedule short. The club set themselves the challenge to cover the distance equal to travelling to Cape Town from the UK (12,600 km) in 26 days. They collectively completed it in just 11 short days and so extended their journey on to Argentina too before returning home. Amazingly, the challenge was completed in 25 of the 26 days allotted. Our Argentinian duo Floro, from the Procurement team and Maria from the Marketing team, have selflessly invested their time every other weekend in feeding those less fortunate than them throughout the pandemic. They’ve fed 50 families a month in their bid to do their bit to help tackle the high levels of poverty in Argentina worsening due to the effects of Covid-19. The clubs total distanced covered by walking, running, rowing and cycling was a whopping 29,530 km much of which was covered by Mark, Yvonne and their family along with Nic and Alex from our Process Admin team, Georgia from the Technical department and Cameron from the Finance department who are also part of Burton Rugby Club. Congratulations to all who took part in the fundraising bonanza that kept their physical activity levels high throughout the pandemic. JULY 2020 04
