Product Overview
Offline UPS: Consists of an AC/DC & DC/AC inverter with a battery, switch, low pass filter and a surge
suppressor. It is also called standby UPS. The system becomes operational by setting AC input as a primary
source. Inverter remains on standby and becomes active only when power fails, and transfer switch transfers
electrical load to the backup unit. It is primarily used in desktop computers, and its main advantages are small
size, low cost, high efficiency, etc.
Line UPS: Battery of AC power converter is connected to the output of UPS. Battery is charged when input AC
power is normal. When the main power supply is off, then the transfer switch allows the power to flow from
battery to the UPS output. These are generally available in 500 VA – 5 kVA range. Advantages of using a line
interactive UPS are high efficiency, small size, low cost and high reliability, and ability to correct low or high line
voltage. It is mainly used in small business and web and departmental servers.
