Product Overview
➢ Coring is a process of removing a part of the formation (rock samples) so that it could be studied and used to
analyze properties that might be undetectable through downhole logging tools alone.
➢ Coring is of two types:
Conventional Coring: In this process, continuous sections of
rock are extracted from the formation. This process is similar
to drilling process but in it instead of a drill bit, a hollow bit
and a core barrel is used.
Side Wall Coring: In this process, rock samples are taken
from the side of the wellbore. These cores are usually taken
through wireline tools and a single wireline can be used to
recover side wall cores from multiple zones of interest. This
process is cost-effective.
