The Clean Water Crisis
Today, 780 million people – about one in seven – lack access to clean water. More than twice that many, 2.5 billion people, don’t have access to a toilet. Read about the actor Matt Damon and what his non-profit organization, water.org, is doing to change this.
Electronic waste, or 'e-waste', is the informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their "useful life." Computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines are common electronic products. Because technology is changing so rapidly, it is becoming more difficult to find a place for all this waste. In addition, the e-waste can have a negative effect on the environment and on our health. Citizen Journalism
The concept of citizen journalism is based upon public citizens "playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing, and sharing news and information." Due to the availability of technology, citizens can often report breaking news more quickly than traditional media reporters.
