Most patients with long COVID can now recover after treatment
from the Washington University School of Medicine found that , while vaccinations cut the risk of long CID in only percent of cases , they were more effective at reducing the risk of serious problems like lung and blood-clotting disorders , which declined by 9 and percent , respectively .
accinations remain critically important in the fight against CID-9 , said first author of the study Dr iyad Al-Aly , a clinical epidemiologist at Washington University , in a press release . accinations reduce the risk of hospitaliation and dying from CID-9 . But vaccines seem to only provide modest protection against long CID . People recovering from breakthrough CID-9 infection should continue to monitor their health and see a healthcare provider if lingering symptoms make it dicult to carry out daily activities .

Some , for instance , aren ’ t able to walk as far as they did before getting infected , explained Dr Daynes .

If you have a heart , lung , or other condition before getting CID-9 , you are more likely to develop long CID , said Dr Daynes . But that ’ s not a hardand-fast rule as there are people who were perfectly healthy , even elite athletes , who still have long CID symptoms .
Being female is another risk factor since women tend to be more commonly affected by long CID , though it ’ s unclear why .
I don ’ t think we have any hypothesis for it other than social factors , she said . If you are a mother and look after the house and children , after falling ill generally you go back to your activities uicker than males who usually don ’ t do those things , which may
