GLOBAL HEALTH ASIA-PACIFIC MEDICAL CENTRES AND AESTHETIC CLINICS AWARDS

THE EVENT CELEBRATES THE BEST MEDICAL CENTRES AND PROFESSIONALS IN THE REGION
The 2021 Global Health Asia-Pacific Medical Centres and Aesthetic Clinics Awards were held in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on December 8 and 10 , respectively .
In addition to the awards ceremonies , the two events featured lively debates on effective healthcare policy and the future of the medical industry . In Singapore , the keynote panel revolved around how the Lion City can get back to its feet after the pandemic . The speakers were Marina Tan , advisor to Global Health Asia-Pacific , Dr Leong Hoe Nam , consultant infectious disease physician at Singapore General Hospital , Dr Timothy Low , CEO and board director at Farrer Park Hospital , and Dr Sriram Narayanan , senior vascular and endovascular surgeon at the Harley Street Heart and Vascular Centre .
Dr Leong spoke about the current phase of the pandemic , highlighting that the omicron variant that is driving up the number of COVID-19 cases in many countries is very infectious but it appears to be milder than previous strains of the novel coronavirus . For this reason , he believed the public health situation would significantly improve in 2022 .
Over 60 medical specialists from several clinics attended the event and had the chance to interact with one another .
In Kuala Lumpur , the keynote speech was delivered by Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah , Director

General of Health , Ministry of Health , Malaysia . He emphasised that the collaboration between the public and the private healthcare sectors led to an effective strategy to reduce the burden of COVID-19 cases on public hospitals . Indeed , health officials were able to send all non-urgent cases of elective surgeries to private medical centres . The private sector was also instrumental in implementing the national vaccination programme for COVID-19 . In addition , Dr Noor Hisham received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding medical career , in particular his leadership role during the pandemic . The best medical centres and aesthetic clinics were also awarded .
The Harley Street Heart and Vascular was crowned as the Best Clinic of the Year in the Asia-Pacific . It also received the Heart & Vascular Medical Centre of the Year in the Asia-Pacific Award .
