MOON BEAR
The Asian black bear is also known as the Moon Bear . Moon bears are black and have a light brown muzzle ( nose ). They have a white chin and a distinct white patch on their chest that sometimes has the shape of a moon . Moon bears are large mammals with males weighing between 130 – 440 pounds and females between 88 – 276 pounds , with powerful upper bodies for climbing trees . Moon bears live in the Himalayas and enjoy an arboreal life . Although mostly herbivorous , moon bears can be very aggressive toward humans , who are known to trap or kill them for traditional medicine .
