THE SHOW
WILL GO ON!
Global Custodian announces Leaders in Custody awards
shortlist 2020, as celebration is rescheduled to 3 September
later this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
G
lobal Custodian is pleased
to announce the shortlist
for the annual Leaders in
Custody awards to be held at
the prestigious Savoy Hotel
in London on a rescheduled
date of 3 September this year.
The celebrations honour top performers
from Global Custodian’s 2019 Agent Banks in
Emerging and Major Markets surveys, along
with Editors’ Choice awards recognising
areas of innovation and achievements the
research does not traditionally cover.
Leading the way in number of nominations
are BNP Paribas Securities Services, SIX
Group and Standard Chartered, all in the
running for six awards.
Citi, Deutsche Bank and SEB are shortlisted
in four categories each, while DBS, Edelweiss,
HSBC and Santander are also up for three
accolades apiece.
As always, the Leaders in Custody awards
recognise outperformers from our Agent
Banks surveys, with categories including
Client Service & Relationship Management,
Asset Servicing and Top Performers.
This year, Global Custodian will also honour
Multi-Market providers in Europe and Asia-
Pacific as well as introducing a coveted Best
in Survey award for Emerging Markets, Major
Markets and Leading Clients. The latter
recognises those who were highest rated by
the largest, and most-active clients in Global
Custodian’s renowned industry surveys.
In the Editors’ Choice categories, awards
will be handed out for Asset Servicing Deal
of the Year, Best New Asset Servicing Project
and Innovation in Market Infrastructure, in
fiercely contested shortlists.
Recognising the swathe of industry
partnerships during 2019, as securities
services firms embrace collaboration with
each other and FinTech firms, Global
Custodian has also introduced a Best New
Asset Servicing Partnership award. The
nominees for this include BNP Paribas’ global
custody deal with US Bank, BNY Mellon and
its front-office data partnerships throughout
the year, JP Morgan’s adoption of post-trade
technology from AccessFintech, and State
Street’s initial foray into cryptocurrency
servicing with Gemini.
Global Custodian will also recognise
technology innovation from established
vendors again in 2020, which will be battled
out by Broadridge, Calastone, SmartStream
and Torstone.
GC will also introduce two new awards for
2020 with the Network Manager of the Year,
FinTech One to Watch, and will release the
shortlist for the awards shortly.
Industry Person of the Year and other
individual awards will be announced at a later
date.
Global Custodian would like to congratulate
everyone who has made the shortlist for
their work and achievements over the past 12
months.
