Shortlisted Creative Writing Competition 2016 Name: Taiyo School: Dover Court International School Age: 13 Word count: 477 Steve Jobs Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California, USA and was adopted by Paul and Clara Job family and a sister called Patty. Steve’s father Paul was a mechanic and in his free time he enjoyed fixing cars that deeply inspiring Jobs in the path of machinery. Also in 1961, the family moved to Mountain View, which was the center of electric devices. This helped Jobs to encounter the latest technology and he decided to work with computers at the age of 12. And in high school he meets Steve Wozniak who was five years older than him, Jobs was surprised by his knowledge. Wozniak was like a dictionary of electronics, they soon made a blue box, a phone that is free. They made a hundred and they sold most of them and that was the first electronic product that they made. In 1976, he and Steve Wozniak officially formed Apple and made their first personal computer. The following year they released the Apple Two, the first widely used computer. In 1983 Apple announced Lisa the first computer that used a mouse. But Jobs did not finish making Lisa because, of the way he treated the workers. By now every computer has a ‘mouse’ or a touch pad. In 1985 Jobs got fired by Apple. After losing his job Steve bought Pixar for $10million. And in 1995 Pixar released Toy Story, the first movie made entirely with computer animation. Toy Story was very successful and Jobs became a billionaire. But Apple was just one step from bankruptcy and Jobs gets called back to Apple. He only took salary of only 1$ because he did not want the workers to think he came back for the money. Apple released the I Mac and it sold as fast as a bullet and Apple gets back on the run. Then Apple introduced the I Pod the public went crazy about the fact that they can put more than a 1000 songs in their pockets. He made a famous speech in the Stanford University that inspired the students. Then Apple introduces the iPhone, the first phone with a touchscreen and no keyboard. It revolutionized the cell phone industry. The reasons they made the I Phone is because Jobs thought that phones were too complicated. The I Phone was more of a computer than a phone. In 2010 they made the I Pad a device that almost every family has. But sadly that was the last product Jobs made.
