Global Corn Wet-Milling Market: Overview
A process of refining corns is known as corn wet-milling. Shelled corns can be processed by
two types, namely, dry mills or wet mills. By using corn wet-milling process, corns can be
separated into four components such as germ, starch, gluten, and fiber. Corn wet-milling
process comprises various production stages such as milling & germ separation, cleaning,
fine grinding & screening, steeping, and separating starch & gluten. Next step is followed by
conversion of starch to syrup and then fermented by dextrose that provides products such
as polylactic acid, ethanol, and amino acids, which are used in the biodegradable products.
Corns are indecently milled by using milling process to remove germs from components that
contain at least 85% of corn’s oil. Corn wet-milling also produces several feed products such
as corn germ meal, wet corn gluten feed, and corn gluten meal. However, primary products
of the wet-milling process include edible oil and starch.
