grant to new e-car owners. For the period of 2018-2021, €6,000,000 annually will be allocated towards the purchase of electric cars and conversion of petrol cars to E85 and gas. An individual registering a new electric car in the period 1.1.2018-30.11.2021 is eligible for a grant of €2,000, if the purchase price of the car is €50,000 or less.

Research related to electric cars is in progress at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

Electric car organizations in Finland include a non-commercial electric car conversion organization called Electric Cars - Now! that converts Toyota Corollas into Li-ion battery-powered electric cars. Because of its climate – cold winters and warm summers – Finland is considered a convenient "test laboratory" for electric cars.
