encouragement to buy low emission cars. Swedish people will have more ambitions to buy electric cars in the future. This bonus model is valid through January 1, 2021. The requirements for this is that the vehicles emissions are no greater that 60grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer or can be driven with an alternative fuel and also that the car has not been in use before. The bonus is calculated based on a few different parameters with different conditions for individuals and companies. However, the bonus can be 25% of the car’s retail price at a maximum. For electric cars and zero/emission hydrogens the highest possible bonus is 60,000 SEK (approximately 6,600 USD).

Heavy Duty Market

Traffic analysis estimates the switch to alternative fuels slower for heavy trucks than for passenger cars and light trucks. The assessment is therefore that the current dominating market shares will continue throughout the prediction period 2018-2021. For heavy trucks, vehicles with clean electric power are about to be introduced on the market, but these are predicted to be too few for the next three years. However, in the long run, new technologies can get a breakthrough among the heavy vehicles too. Today a heavy truck must be classified as Euro IV if the engine meets applicable emission and other requirements according to the regulation (EC) 595/2009. The owners of the trucks have been steady for the last 10 years and can be divided in three segments. About 5% is owned by physical persons, between 57-59% are owned by legal persons for professional use and between 36-38% are company trucks.

Used and Remanufactured Market

There are no special restrictions or conditions imposed on imports of used or remanufactured auto parts if they certify EU requirements. Moreover, there are no quotas or other limitations, and used and remanufactured parts are subject to the same import tariffs as new auto parts. Stricter regulations and increasing consumer demand for eco-products are pushing up demand for remanufactured parts.
