In order to increase interest in green cars the Slovak Ministry of Economy allocated EUR 5.2 million (USD 5.95 million) to support electric and hybrid car purchases till June 2018. The Ministry’s new action plan for the development of electromobility in Slovakia proposes 16 measures (e.g. distinguished plates for electric vehicles - as of May 1, 2019 special green color; low-emission zones and bus lanes entry; adaptation of electrotechnical qualification for the production and servicing of electric vehicles; building charging infrastructure in new parking spaces & installation of charging stations in state-owned car parks – allocated EUR 1 million (USD 1.145 million), both municipalities and private companies will be able to claim reimbursements up to the specified amount. By 2020 the Ministry wants 150 fast charging stations over 22 kW and 600 for "medium-speed" charging up to 22 kW with the aim to double this number by 2025.); accelerated depreciation of electric vehicles (from four years to two years); depreciation for electric charging stations (not depreciable under current legislation); support for battery R&D and production, etc.) to be yet approved by government in January 2019.
